Decision Partners Announces New Scholarship Providers Program
Boston, June 7, 2006 - Decision Partners today announced the launch of their Scholarship Provider Program. This new service for organizations that award gift aid to undergraduates provides a turnkey solution for teaching financial literacy to scholarship recipients. By guaranteeing a basic level of financial literacy among award recipients, the program helps to ensure that valuable scholarship dollars are spent wisely.
The Scholarship Provider Program gives organizations the ability to distribute Financial Literacy 101 for College, an online personal finance course. Designed to help prevent many of the common financial problems faced by today's college students, the 90-minute course covers budgeting, managing credit cards, banking, identity theft and other important financial topics. After taking a pre-course survey to assess each student's financial knowledge, attitudes and behaviors, students progress through a multimedia learning experience filled with interactive exercises, streaming audio and synchronized slides. After taking the course, students take a graded final exam to measure learning gains and to reinforce the most important concepts covered in the course.
"Whether an organization distributes 30 or 30,000 awards per year, every scholarship provider wants to make sure their award dollars are ultimately spent wisely," said Austin Jackson, CEO of Decision Partners. "This new program gives scholarship providers of any size access to a world-class financial literacy education tool, and the turnkey nature of the program means that virtually no administrative resources are needed for day-to-day operation."
Because it is completely Internet-based, the Scholarship Provider Program offers organizations an easy to manage program, whether recipients are located near the awarding organization or anywhere in the country. Course administrators simply distribute a unique access code to award recipients, and an administrative control panel is provided to view the progress and the final grade of each student. This list may also be printed for reporting purposes. For organizations that require a passing grade on the course before a scholarship will be distributed and rely on a third party to distribute award checks, a course completion certificate with a secure code is provided to all students upon passing the final exam.
The Race for Education, a national education scholarship foundation, is now using the Scholarship Providers Program to give financial literacy training to recipients of their yearly awards. The Race for Education now requires that scholarship recipients complete Financial Literacy 101 for College in order to receive their award.
"With the-ever increasing cost of tuition and college-related expenses, it is important for young people to learn to manage their money and debt earlier than ever," said Elisabeth Jensen Collier, Executive Director of The Race For Education. "We are pleased to be partnering with Decision Partners to offer an online basic financial literacy course for our students."
Scholarship providers may also use this program to provide financial literacy education to all scholarship applicants by sending out an access code with scholarship applications. Custom survey questions and comprehensive statistical analysis of survey results are also available. For more information on the Scholarship Providers Program, please contact us.
