Decision Partners Announces New Classroom-Based Financial Education Tool
Boston, December 9, 2014 - Decision Partners today announced the availability of Classrooms, a new service designed for use in instructor-led environments. Classrooms are available now for Financial Literacy 101 customers and will be rolled out to all Decision Partners' programs in the coming months.
Financial Literacy 101 Classrooms make it easy to manage online financial education on a class-by-class basis. With full course customization capabilities, student-specific tracking, and advanced data reporting, it's never been easier to tailor financial education curricula to the specific needs of each class of students. Classrooms are perfect for a variety of implementation scenarios, including one-time seminars, computer-enhanced "in the classroom" learning, online homework, and peer education opportunities.
All participation results are available in real-time, bringing a new level of student engagement and interactivity to instructor-led activities. For example, quiz questions with a high number of incorrect answers can be quickly addressed with instructor-led examples. Aggregate survey responses can be used to promote discussions based on the financial knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of actual students in each classroom. Students can participate with computers, tablets, or smart phones.
Classrooms are a free feature of Financial Literacy 101 that can be enabled through the administrative control panel. While campus administrators have full access to student participation metrics, Classrooms are designed to operate separately from campus-wide Financial Literacy 101 programs and require no administrative support. Administrators simply provide a single code to instructors who then register at Financial Literacy 101 and set up their classrooms independently. A simplified user interface was developed for instructors, including context-sensitive feature descriptions, so no training is required. Technical support is provided by Decision Partners.
"We're excited to offer these new capabilities to our customers," said Sarah Molloy, Decision Partners' Vice President of Product Development. "In the past, instructors were managed by Financial Literacy 101 administrators on each campus and course options were limited to those offered by their university. Now instructors have complete freedom over their curricula - without affecting other aspects of each university's financial education program."
Instructors using Classrooms have complete access to Financial Literacy 101's library of financial education topics, from the basics of managing a budget to navigating complex student loan repayment choices. When assigned to a course, topics include quiz questions, surveys, and interactive exercises. All grading and data reporting is generated automatically, and students receive completion certificates for each course completed. Instructors can offer a single course or assign multiple courses over the course of a semester.
Financial Literacy 101 Classrooms is part of Decision Partners' continuing mission to bring independent, commercial-free financial education to diverse populations. Since developing the first online financial education course nearly a decade ago, Decision Partners has continued to empower those closest to each student with the tools they need to reach their financial education goals. Financial Literacy 101 administrators can customize courses, add their own financial education content to courses, and even use student-specific participation results for one-to-one financial counseling with opt-in data sharing tools. With Classrooms, Financial Literacy 101 administrators can offer many of the same capabilities to instructors - without additional administrative responsibilities.
